History

Combined efforts of the students of IISc Bangalore, IIM Bangalore and other professional colleges in Bengaluru, assisted by civil society, evolved this initiative. Students from IISc, IIMB, NIMHANS and NLSIU joined together to implement this idea in 2006.

In 2006, Think India, in association with student and youth organisations, organized workshops at the city level in all four south Indian states as precursor to THINK INDIA convention.

In 2007, from 11th -13th January, the 1st Think India Convention was organized at the Art of Living Ashram, Bengaluru. It saw participation from all national institutes and major professional colleges from Karnataka and adjoining States.

In 2010, students of various national institutes came together to form a national network in New Delhi on the 23rd of May 2010.

In 2011, a two-day national workshop, titled “India Today & India Tomorrow” was organized on the 21st and 22nd of May 2011 at Pune, which saw participation of students from all over the country.

A 16 member Think India National committee was declared in the Pune event.

In January 2012, Think India organised a National level Conference titled, ‘Vision for a Vibrant Nation’ held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where students, alumni and enthusiastic faculty members participated from all corners of India.

Here, a new Advisory Committee and a Student Committee were declared for the year 2012-13.

In May 2012, First edition of ANUBHOOTI – A Social Internship Programme was started to provide student with unique opportunity to see, know, work and realize the passionate work which some of the pioneering organisations are doing for the society. In its first edition student interned in 5 leading organisation; namely: DRI Chitrakkot, SNEHALAYA, Divya Prem Sewa Mission, Vikas Bharti and Youth For Seva.
