Students, Teachers, Alumni and a galaxy of prominent personalities who shared the dais, were present during two-day national convention at the Indian Institute of management, Ahmedabad this Think India 2013 Convention on 2 & 3 March, 2013 was organised by Think India. Celebrating the 150th Birth Year of Swami Vivekananda, the broad theme for the convention was ‘Innovate & Lead : A Rousing Call to Youth’ The convention was inaugurated by Shri Bhagyesh Jha, Secretary Sports, Youth & Culture Govt. of Gujarat while Shri K.N. Raghunandan, National Joint Organizing Secretary, ABVP, presided over the Inauguration Ceremony. Other personalities present at the Inauguration were Shri Bhaskar Tanna, Senior Advocate & President, Reception Committee, Shri Arun Oza, Senior Advocate & General Secretary, Reception Committee, Shri Ashish Chauhan, Convener, Think India, Shri Sachin Nanda, Student IIMA & Convener, Think India Convention, Ms Sneha Jain , Student IITB & Co-Convener Think India Convention.

Day 1 (2nd March, 2013) had two thematic sessions. Session 1 titled, ‘UNDERSTANDING INDIA’ was addressed by Shri SunilAmbekar chaired by Prof. Satish Deodhar. Session 2 titled, ‘REAL LIFE ROLE MODELS: An Interaction’ was addressed by two noted personalities namely Dr. H R Nagendra & Smt. Manan Chaturvedi and was chaired by Shri Girish Shah.

Day 2 (3rd March, 2013) also consisted of Two thematic sessions. Session 3 titled, “A ROUSING CALL TO YOUTH” addressed bySushree Nivedita Bhide and was chaired by Prof. Samar Datta. Session 4 titled, “INNOVATIVE ENTREPRENEURS: A Panel Discussion” was addressed by Three Speakers Shri Girish Luthra, Shri Mukesh Bhandari, Shri Pradip Patel and was chaired byProf. Bhavin Kothari.

The Valedictory Session of the Think India Convention, 2013 was held at 4:30 pm on 3rd March, 2013 at KLMDC Conference Hall, IIM Ahmedabad. The Chief Guest at the Valedictory Session Shri Sunil Ambekar, National Org. Sec., ABVP, Presided by Dr Varadraj Bapatwho presented the valedictory remarks at the session while Shri Nagaraj Reddy, Think India In-charge was in his Special Presence at the Valedictory Session. Shri Ashish Chauhan, Shri Yogendran Balakrishnan, Coordinator, ANUBHOOTI, Shri Sachin Nanda, Ms Sneha Jain accompanied guest on dais during valedictory ceremony of the THINK INDIA CONVENTION.

The Think India team took steps to encourage research among students with holding Paper Presentation, Case Study and held Competition in Idea Impact to facilitate innovate ideas for the society.

Day 1 (2nd March, 2013)

INAUGURATION

The convention was inaugurated by Shri Bhagyesh Jha, Secretary Sports, Youth & Culture Govt. of Gujarat while Shri K.N. Raghunandan, National Joint Organizing Secretary, ABVP, presided over the Inauguration Ceremony. Other personalities present at the Inauguration were Shri Bhaskar Tanna,President, Reception Committee, Shri Arun Ozha, General Secretary, Reception Committee, Shri Ashish Chauhan, Convener, Think India, Shri Sachin Nanda, Student IIMA & Convener, Think India Convention, Ms Sneha Jain , Student IITB & Co-Convener Think India Convention.

Shri Bhagyesh Jha spoke on the theme of the event ‘Innovate & Lead: A Rousing Call to Youth’, he mentioned that for becoming a leader one should create impact, expand planning, have clear vision. Delighting participants with his fluency on Sanksrit, English and Hindi, this polyglot administrator also gave insight on various achievements in Gujarat’s rise, including Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Khel Mahakumbha and Golden Jubilee Event of Gujarat’s formation. Shri K N Raghunandan spoke on ABVP work in newer dimensions and highlighted journey of Think India for being blessed by Sri Sri Ravishankar to be a movement to spread ideas of service and nationalism among premier students community. He emphasized on creating avenues for discussion and debate in such premier institutes. Shri Bhaskar Tanna, Senior Advocate & President Reception Committee, Think India Convention spoke on urgent need to take up issues of female feticides and plumping sex ratios. Shri Ashish Chauhan gave an introduction to Think India and the theme of the event. Shri Arun Oza, Secretary, Reception Committee, Think India Convention asked youth to take inspiration from social workers devoting their life for social and nation’s cause. Ms Sneha Jain gave vote of thanks at the inauguration ceremony. 

Session 1: UNDERSTANDING INDIA

Session 1 titled, ‘UNDERSTANDING INDIA’ was addressed by Shri Sunil Ambekar and was chaired by Prof. Satish Deodhar. Shri Sunil Ambekar emphasized on India’s historical traditions which in the light of 21st century science still hold their ground. Shri Ambekar explained that various disciplines such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Sanskrit as a language and a system of learning and our family values remain extremely relevant to this day. 

Session 2: REAL LIFE ROLE MODELS: An Interaction

Session 2 titled, ‘REAL LIFE ROLE MODELS: An Interaction’ was addressed by Dr H R Nagendra, Former Scientist, NASA & Founder SVYASA Bangalore, Smt Manan Chaturvedi, Social Activist & Founder, Surman Sansthan, and Shri Girish Shah, Philanthropist & Managing Trustee, Samast Mahajan, Dr. H R Nagendra spoke about Yoga and his journey with SVYASA Bangalore. Smt Manan Chaturvedi, gave an touching introduction to her works by a small video, and described how her journey from a 25 year old lady to now a mother of hundred in her home called Surman Sansthan and many who meets and gets the chance to know her. This session was moderated by Shri Girish Shah. 

Day 2 (3rd March, 2013)

Session 3: A ROUSING CALL TO YOUTH

Session 3 titled, “A ROUSING CALL TO YOUTH” was addressed by Sushree Nivedita Bhide, Vice President, Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, Prof. Samar Datta, Senior Faculty, IIM Ahmedabad. Sushree Nivedita Bhide emphasized on how Swami Vivekananda understood India while traveling throughout the country and how Swami Vivekananda felt the pain of difference between west and east during his stay in USA. She also stressed on the fact that youth must become aware about the suffering of India, about the basic problems of the society by travelling the length and breadth of the country and must then contribute in lessening those suffering.

Session 4: INNOVATIVE ENTREPRENUERS

Session 4 titled as “Innovative Entreprenuers: A Pannel Discussion” was addressed by

Shri Girish Luthra, Founder, Luthra Group, Mukesh Bhandari, Founder Chairman & CTO, Electrotherm, & Shri Pradip Patel, Director, Ramdev Foods and was chaired by Prof. Bhavin Kothari,Faculty NID Ahmedabad. Shri Ashish Chauhan Convener Think India introduced the theme of the discussion. Shri Mukesh Bhandari explained his journey as the Founder, Chairman & CTO of Electrotherm and how he took the company under his stewardship to the foremost Power Electronics & Metallurgical Equipment Engineering Companies of the world.Shri Girish R. Luthra interacted with the gathering about his story of success from being a sports loving person to become the founder of a companies which are in variety of business like Textiles, Waste Management, Environment Infrastructure and Hospitality. Shri Pradip Patel explained his idea of ‘reaching a customer’s heart through quality’ which made his company to reach soaring heights both nationally & internationally. Prof.Bhavin Kothari managed the discussion in a commendable way by allotting proper time for discussion to each and every panelist. 

Session: COMPETITION AND PRESENTATION

Competition & Presentation session were held on both the days of the event. Case Study Presentation & Paper Presentation events were organized to facilitate research and documentation by the delegates. In which, Case Studies were invited on enterprises, institutions and organisation to draw the sketch of the journey of that institution. Paper Presentations were invited on the title ‘Swami Vivekananda – An Analysis of Contemporary Relevance’. Moreover, Competitions of Idea Impact was organized, where participants were invited to present Ideas for welfare of the society, and attractive prizes were also there for this event. Felicitation of winners was done in valedictory ceremony by Shri Sunil Ambekar, Dr Varadraj Bapat and Shri Nagraj Reddy. 

VALEDICTORY SESSION

The Valedictory Session of the Think India Convention, 2013 was held on 3rd March, 2013 at IIM, Ahmedabad, Chief Guest of this ceremony was Shri Sunil Ambekar, was chaired by Dr. Vardaraj Bapat in the presence of Shri Nagraj Reddy. Dr Varadraj Bapat in his valedictory address asked youth to contribute for the society and in 150th Birth Year of Swami Vivekananda he urged everyone to contribute their time for social activist from 15 Days to a Year. Shri Nagaraj Reddy spoke on how education should be made relevant, citing examples from discussion with a spiritual leader in south India he asked for making education more value focused. Shri Ashish Chauhan declared primary list of Think India Committee in the Think India 2013 Convention.

Participants in the Paper Presentation and Case Study Presentation were awarded with certificates of ‘Critically Acclaimed Paper’; and 1st & 2nd position prizes were given for the Idea Impact competition by Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony Shri Sunil Ambekar.
